A fragment of the floral damask furnishing fabric from 3 Grafton Street, Westminster, the home of Mary Venetia James, late 19th c, derived from an 18th c French tapestry, with a bouquet of roses tied with a bow and festoons, 62 x 47cm, framed

Provenance: Mary Venetia Cavendish-Bentinck (1861-1948) was the daughter of the Honourable George Augustus Frederick Cavendish-Bentinck (1821-1891) and Prudence Penelope Leslie (1830-1896). She married, in 1885 John Arthur James, millionaire art collector, racehorse breeder and owner, and friend of King Edward VII

Dark stain lower centre and somewhat faded but in apparently good overall condition, beneath glass, unexamined out of frame into which it was placed in, according to a label on the reverse, in 1972
