Fees

A Chinese bronze koro and cover, 19th century, the square section bronze body raised on four legs with taotie masks, the exterior of the koro with four reserves depicting a dragon, phoenix, kylin, and qilin, with carved hardwood cover and stand, 22cm high overall

More Information

The pierced cover shows an area of repair to the fretwork, and a crudely glued on coral finial (probably replacing a turned wooden original). The bronze body shows age related wear to the patinated finish. General blemishes, light denting and commensurate wear can be seen throughout the pieces. The moulded decoration seems naive. The stand has fitted holes cut for the koro feet, but may not be original to the piece.
