The picture appears to have been re-lined at some point in the past. The paint surface shows craquelure to the top section and fine vertical stretch marks to the central area. Examination under UV shows evidence of minor re-touching to areas including the Cavalier's boots, the fire, the maid's face and the top edge. The frame appears to be structurally sound with no obvious evidence of damage to the moulded details. The gilt finish has been partially over-painted at some point in the past.
