Sanson's map of eastern Africa, including the Congo, Zanzibar, Madagascar and stretching north to southern Egypt and the Red Sea. It has an unusual cartouche within which Sanson cites his sources as Mercator and Livio Sanut, a Venetian cosmographer and mathematician.
