Details:

The case of walnut, the lid with pierced and shaped brass strap-hinges, the fascia-board and cheeks also of walnut.

Five-octave keyboard, GG to g3, with ebony naturals faced with moulded paper and ivory accidentals, on trestle stand with turned legs, inscribed on a boxwood plaque ‘Thomas Barton Londini fecit’

Condition: Pitch close to A415Hz One broken string. Uneven touch - requires regulation and voicing. The last two digits of the date have been altered on the nameboard.

Structure: The structure appears to be strong with no obvious detachments. Bridge seems well glued to soundboard. Hitch plank appears well glued into position. Soundboard looks like a later replacement.

Poorly repaired lid.

Jacks look later wooden replacements with numbered stamps.

Jack rail may be new.
