Weights and Measures
Estimated diamond colours and clarities are not guaranteed by Griffin’s Auctioneers and Valuers. They are provided only as a guide only. Carat weights of gemstones are estimated using standard formulae. Please note that there may be a discrepancy caused by limitations due to the settings and mounts.
Lengths and weights are given as estimates only. Griffin’s will endeavour to state whether an item is stamped or hallmarked but does not guarantee the purity of metals. We use a Kee electronic gold tester, however this can only test the surface of the metal.
Coloured Gemstones and Diamonds
There are a number of treatments that are widely used for coloured gemstones. Some treatments are permanent whereas others may only be temporary, possibly requiring further re-treatment in order to retain their appearance and/ or durability. The customer should assume that all coloured gemstones have been subject to treatment unless otherwise stated. While we will state diamond treatments if known, we cannot guarantee that the diamonds we sell have not been treated. In addition, opinions on a stone’s natural or synthetic origin may be given but are not guarantees.
Condition Reports
The items we sell are almost all antique or second hand. Therefore, buyers should be aware that the items will be expected to have signs of use and wear. Some items may be described in the catalogue with statements on their condition. However, the absence of such a statement does not imply a lack of damage or wear. We highly recommend that a prospective buyer views in person to satisfy themselves to the condition, originality, functionality and suitability before bidding.
Postage
We offer in-house postage on most items in this sale. However, some items such as edged weapons and firearms we may not be able to ship. Please contact us to check or for a quote before bidding.
