Whittaker & Biggs auction room is temporarily closed to the general public and we are no longer holding public auctions. However we are holding online only auctions and you will find relevant information below.
As per our usual sale, bids can be made for our auctions via the Easy live web site. Alternatively you are more than welcome to leave absentee bids or we can arrange telephone bids for items valued at over £50 on a first come, first served basis. Please be aware, lots are subject to change until Thursday at 5pm so please do check the lots you are interested in before the Auction begins. Viewing items can no longer take place in person due to the current restrictions, but we are happy to provide condition reports on all lots at request. It is still the buyers responsibility to ensure they are happy with the condition of an item before purchasing. Payment for your items can be made over the phone by debit or credit card, via bank transfer or through the safe and secure Easy live invoice email. We no longer take cash or cheque payments. Payments must be made in full before the collection/delivery/postage of any item.
We know that the collections may seem a little abnormal but we have tried to make things as convenient, but also as safe as possible in compliance with government guidelines. We have four options available to our customers and these are listed in detail below:-
· Option 1 – Collection by appointment – Items won and paid for in full may be collected from outside the auction room strictly by appointment only (Tel no : 01260 279858).
Customers will be allocated a specific time slot for the collection of goods and upon production of their invoice our porters will collect your items and drop them (not literally) by your car. Collections will need to be booked in as soon as possible as time slots will be reserved quickly.
Please note that members of the public will not be allowed to enter our premises.
· Option 2 – Whittaker and Biggs delivery - We can deliver your items if you are based locally. Call our office to enquire if we cover your area and have availability. Please note, due to current government restrictions, delivery will only be to your doorstep/driveway.
· Option 3 - We can provide contact numbers for two trusted couriers who will happily give you a quote for deliveries further afield.
· Option 4 - For smaller items, we offer in house postage and packaging using Royal Mail. Please email
[email protected] for a quote which once accepted we will add to your final invoice. Please note, we do not offer postage and packaging for ceramics and glassware. All items are posted within 10 days following the auction and are posted using Royal Mail Tracked and we can add the Tracking information to your invoice. All invoices require full payment before your items are sent.
Our collection days going forward will be both auction days Thursday and Friday (9:00am-5:00pm), Saturday (9:00am-12:00pm) after the auction, the Monday (9:00am-5:00pm) and Tuesday (9:00am:-5:00pm). All items need to be paid for by 5pm on the Tuesday following the auction otherwise you will incur a storage charge of £5.00 per lot, per day.
