Rare Hull City Name Plate Sold!

We take a look at one of the Star Lots from the Spicer's Auctioneers sale on 19th November.

Spicer’s are delighted for the Hull City Supporter who was the successful bidder on Lot 212.

The original name plate was used between 1936 and 1960, after which it was hung above the tunnel at Boothferry Park before being moved to the KCOM stadium in 2002 and hung above the tunnel.

Only two replicas were cast from the original plate which now resides on the main stand at MKM Stadium in Hull.

"It’s so exciting in the saleroom as the internet platforms and two telephone bidders battled it out! What started as an interesting lot became exceptional" said auctioneer Andy Spicer.

"The estimate of £900 to £1000 was quickly left behind with the winning bid eventually reaching £3,900 including buyers premium, it’s fantastic when this happens, it’s what makes attending an auction live so fascinating those in the gallery couldn’t help but burst into spontaneous applause. A fantastic outcome for the vendor and the buyer, now the owner of this iconic brass nameplate".
