With more than 11 years of antiques experience, she opened her own auction house in 2023, in the picturesque Georgian town of Melbourne, South Derbyshire. Irita is also a seasoned television personality, revered for her antiques expertise. She has made numerous appearances on popular shows like Bargain Hunt, Greatest Auction, Antiques Road Trip, and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

Now, she’s taking her expertise to new heights with The Derbyshire Auction House. This ten-episode series invites viewers to join Irita as she travels through the charming villages and towns of Derbyshire, discovering cherished items with unique stories. The show takes a heartfelt and personable approach, giving us an inside look at Irita’s interactions with locals as she visits their homes, uncovering items that have been passed down through generations.

A Fast-Paced Adventure

In an interview with Plymouth Live, Irita shared how quickly this exciting venture unfolded. “It was all a bit quick,” she said. “I started my auction house in September last year when we opened the doors, and our first auction wasn't actually until January. We had only had one auction before we started the show.”

The timing felt just right for Irita, as she reflected, “They always say, ‘Everything happens for a reason and when the time is right, it happens,’ and it really did feel like that.”

A Heartfelt Premiere

The series premiered 22^nd July 2024, and it was nothing short of emotional. In the very first episode, Irita visited a quaint village where she helped a family come to terms with parting ways with their late father’s prized possessions, including a long-beloved car.

Irita herself was touched by the experience. “I lost my dad years ago, and I could really feel for her. I really wanted to get that money for her, and we got there,” she shared.

It’s clear to see that this is not just about business for Irita. It's also about connecting with people and understanding their stories. “We are complete strangers to these people, and they let us in their houses, shared their life with us, and I have to say, I am one of those people that really pays attention and really listens, and I feel for them,” she explained.

Stories that Tug at the Heartstrings

Throughout the series, viewers can expect a fair share of tears and heartfelt moments. Whether it’s due to downsizing, health issues, or simply just moving on, each family featured in The Derbyshire Auction House has their own unique story to tell.

Irita’s empathetic charm shines through as she guides these families in letting go of cherished heirlooms. “We have had a fair amount of tears, and it is understandable,” she notes. “People are saying goodbye to family-owned heirlooms, and now they might need to part with them because they are downsizing or because they can't do collecting anymore for health reasons. Everyone has their own story."
