A look at an astonishing find consigned to Featonby's.
Back in June a sparkly stone made its way through the doors of Featonbys without any intention. The customer, a lovely, local elderly lady brought what she thought was a collection of costume jewellery which she had accumulated over many years, in for auction. This collection had a large stone which was believed to potentially be a Cubic Zirconia.
The stone was stored in Director, Mark Lane's office and a friend of the company made a passing comment to test the stone. When holding the stone beside their diamond tester it came back as a genuine diamond leaving all involved in disbelief.
The stone was then sent to Featonby's partners in Hatton Garden, Swan & Co who specialise in bespoke jewellery and gemstones who informed them it was around a 30ct diamond.
The gorgeous sparkling gem then made its way to Antwerp where it was certified as a 34.19ct Round Brilliant Cut Diamond, H colour, VS1 Clarify with a triple excellent cut grade and laser inscription certified by the HRD Diamond Grading Laboratory in Antwerp.
The Stone will be up for auction on the 30th November at 12 noon live from Featonbys, Newcastle -
