Whitton & Laing was established in 1884 as one of the Westcountry’s leading property auctioneers, and soon after built a furniture and fine art auction business, now holding about 100 sales a year, at their three auction premises.

CONDITIONS OF SALE RELATING TO PURCHASE 14. INSPECTION OF GOODS
Every opportunity is given for the inspection of the goods or articles and a purchaser making
a bid for a Lot acknowledges that he or she is fully satisfied with such Lot before bidding by
inspection or otherwise as to all the conditions of sale. This includes the physical condition of
any description of any such Lot including but not restricted to whether the Lot is damaged or
has been repaired. 15. PROPERTY AND RISK The property in any Lot shall not pass to the
purchaser until he or she has paid the full purchase price and V.A.T. and buyers premiums
but in every case, each Lot is at the sole risk of the purchaser from the fall of the hammer. 16.
CLEARANCE OF PURCHASES No purchase shall be claimed or removed until the sale has
been completed. All Lots shall be paid for and removed at the purchaser's risk and expense
by the end of the second working day following the Sale, failing which, Whitton & Laing
shall not be responsible if the same are lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed and all Lots not so
removed shall remain at the risk of the buyer.. If they are not removed within seven days of
the Sale, Whitton & Laing may re-sell them by auction or privately without notice to the
purchaser. Any liability which there may be on the part of Whitton & Laing in respect of any
loss shall be restricted to a maximum of the price paid by the original purchaser of the Lot.
17. DEFAULT If any purchaser fails to comply with any of the above conditions, the
damages recoverable from the defaulter shall include all loss arising from any re-sale of Lots
together with the charges and expense in respect of both sales and any money deposited in
part payment shall be held by Whitton & Laing. 18. BUYERS PREMIUM A premium of
18% is normally added to the bid price as a buyers premium and this premium is subject to
V.A.T. And the total is added to the purchasers account and payable before the goods are
claimed or removed. Please note that Lots purchased via The -Sale Room.com live auction
service, will be subject to an additional 4.95% commission charge and V.A.T. At the rate
imposed at the hammer price. 19. SALE OF VEHICLES No warranty is given that any
second hand motor vehicle sold is in a road worthy condition at the time of the sale. The
purchasers of vehicles will be required to sign an Undertaking upon purchase that such
vehicles if necessary will be put into good and roadworthy condition by the purchaser at their
own expense before use on any road in Great Britain 20. IN THESE CONDITIONS OF
SALE the name Whitton & Laing represents the Agents responsible for holding sales in their
own name as Whitton & Laing and as Queens Road Auctions or in other names of in
conjunction with other Agents or parties
